Last week, eight St. Regis High School students participated in a job readiness program sponsored by Missoula College. The Job Site Ready program is a job-preparedness training designed to equip learners with the work experience and essential skills to start an entry-level job in the Construction trades. Applicants will walk away with exposure to tool use and maintenance, materials handling, workplace safety, industrial practices, and project management. The program combines classroom and hands-on experience, concluding with onsite training offered several times a year and in locations all across Montana.
Kaden Church, Wade Calloway, Dylan Arbogast, Ayden Rael, Kaden Sanders, and Barrett Bassett (behind the shed) earned a Job Site Ready micro-credential. To earn the credential, students had to invest 45 hours, 30 hours of online instruction, and 15 hours of onsite training. To put their book learning to the test, students had to build a 4x6 shed.
