Paradise Cemetery accidentally locked

The Paradise Cemetery gates were accidentally locked after an Easter service event preventing loved ones from access to the grounds recently.

Discussion had on locked gate in Lozeau area

Extra chairs were needed in the commissioners’ conference room on Friday due to the increased public interest in a gate that was recently placed across the Cyr Iron Mountain Road in Lozeau and promptly locked – preventing public access.

Roads open for firewood cutting

The Superior Ranger District will be opening some areas to firewood cutting that are presently behind closed gates. These roads have not been bladed recently and may contain rocks or other hazards. The date of opening for roads listed below will be May 14th, except for the Borax area roads which will be approximately June 1st depending on snow. These areas are as follows:

Prank goes horribly wrong on Edith Peak

A Two Bear Air Rescue team was called to the scene of an avalanche near Edith Peak by Huson. They located, and rescued an injured man who had ran his snowmobile through a steel gate. While returning to the mountain to retrieve the avalanche victims, they were told by the Sheriff Deputy that it was a hoax the injured man’s friends had pulled.
