Kalispell man charged for threats to Senator Tester
A Montana man has been charged with threatening the life of Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Tester via voicemails left at his Kalispell office, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

St. Regis highway receives beautification project
St. Regis residents and travelers through the area can’t miss the bright orange traffic cones and construction lining Montana 135 just north of the four-way stop through town. The project is part of the St. Regis Resort District Enhancement and Beautification Project, which began on June 5.
47 traffic accidents reported as severe weather hits
Icy, snow-covered roads caused a number of the accidents earlier in the week, while melting snow and slush compounded driving conditions toward the latter part of the week. In total, 47 incidents were reported by the Montana Highway Patrol in Mineral County and near Frenchtown, between Feb. 6 and Feb. 11.

CASA members to be sworn in
SANDERS COUNTY - Due to the increase in the number of abuse and neglect cases filed in Montana, CASA of Lake County has been working with local organizers to expand its services into Sanders County. Local organizers include Betty Boehler, Polly Cavill, John Thorson, Marissa Ilac, Peg McCarthy, County Commissioner Carol Brooker and Leslye Baldwin Mackelwich. The new organization is known as CASA of Lake & Sanders Counties and will serve the 20th Judicial District Court of Montana.
Locals come together
PARADISE – Paradise School, which closed its doors in May 2013 due to an inadequate number of students, has potential for a second life. A group of interested individuals from Paradise and Plains have formed the Paradise School Preservation Committee. Their vision is to create a visitor center, arts center and community center in the century old historic building. The multi-use facility would serve the potential for creating economic opportunity within the community and Sanders County.

MINERAL COUNTY - There has been an increase in the number of whooping cough cases, also known as pertussis, in Mineral County. According to Mineral County Health Department, thus far in the past weeks three cases of whooping cough have been reported.
Plains high school athlete wins national award
PLAINS - Tiara Thompson from Plains High School has won a National Athleadership Grant sponsored by NCSA Athletic Recruiting and the NFLPA. Receiving this prestigious award is an honor, one that is only given to a select number of student athletes throughout the country in all sports from football to track. The Athleadership Grant is awarded to student athletes who qualify based on leadership in their community, academic achievement, athletics and a required essay written by the student athlete.

The talent of kids from Hot Springs Elementary School was on display Thursday as the local Parent Teacher Organization held a Family Fun Night carnival in the gym. Held twice a year, the event served as a means to celebrate and share the gifts of kids with an aptitude for performance.
