From the fire hall…

I would like to take this time to provide the Town of Plains with a report of the past years activity of the Plains Volunteer Fire Department. During 2009 we have been successful in maintaining our membership, upgrading and/or replacing outdated equipment, restructuring our primary mission, completing two successful fund raising events, initiating plans for a new fire hall and training our members to basic as well as advanced qualifications; all the while providing fire protection and emergency service to the community.

Mineral Co. conducts screening for COVID-19

June 22 and 23 the Mineral County Health Department conducted drive-thru testing for COVID-19 at four different locations in the area. Last Monday testing sites were held in St. Regis and Deborgia, and on Tuesday, Alberton and Superior both had drive-through testing spots available.

Fourth of July celebrations will take place in Alberton, and St. Regis. In St. Regis there will be breakfast at the school from 8 to 11 a.m. and a parade at 11 a.m. Food and games at the park from noon to 4 pm, and fireworks at dusk.

CFVH receives grant for better health

PLAINS - Clark Fork Valley Hospital partnered with the Frontier Medicine Better Health Partnership through a grant to improve healthcare in Sanders County. The grant funding was made possible by the federal Affordable Care Act, the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Innovation which provided $1 billion in grant funding to projects that would aim to improve health outcomes and care and increase efficiencies while lowering total healthcare expenditures. There were over 3,000 applicants who applied for the funds and of them 700 were approved. The Frontier Medicine Better Health Partnership is comprised of 25 critical access hospitals throughout the state of Montana including CFVH.

SANDERS COUNTY- I would imagine that most law enforcement officers have experienced the feeling at one point in their career that they are in a “thankless” profession. Many people probably do not appreciate what these men and women go through on a daily basis. Until they need their help. But for some such as Sanders County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Josephson, it is just part of the job.
