Griz top preseason Big Sky polls, Cats 2nd
SPOKANE, Washington — Coming off a trip to the FCS national championship game in January, Montana was picked to win the Big Sky Conference for a second consecutive season in both the media and coaches preseason polls Sunday.

Plains girls cruise over Noxon
One of the pleasant surprises of the new season, at least for Plains fans, has been the play of the Trotters, who ran their season mark to 6-1 with a 35-17 win over Noxon Saturday evening in Noxon.
Planning begins for 2013 Sanders County RFL
SANDERS COUNTY - Planning has begun for the 2013 Sanders County Relay For Life. This American Cancer Society celebration of life brings together community members concerned about cancer in a unified effort to fight back. This year the event, set for Aug. 2-3, returns to Thompson Falls High School after two years in Plains. The steering committee is seeking for volunteers and teams to help organize the event.

Residents from all over Mineral County gathered at the Superior High School track to celebrate life at the 13th annual Mineral County Relay for Life.

Relay for Life kick-off slated
The 12th annual American Cancer Society Sanders County Relay For Life will be held at the Sanders County Fairgrounds in Plains the first weekend in August. Each year the planning committee sets goals for the approaching Relay. For 2011, the committee hopes to raise $40,000, register 30 teams, have 75 survivors walking the opening lap, and sell 1,000 luminaries to honor those diagnosed with cancer.
