As legislators, we have had some long days and short nights as we head to the midway point of the session, the transmittal deadline for all non-revenue bills.  With transmittal ending on February 24t, we have been hearing an increased number of general bills both in committee and on the floor.

Fire season off to slow start

On Monday, approximately 50 fires had burned throughout all five districts of Lolo National Forest for the season. Boyd Hartwig, the public affairs officer for Lolo National Forest, said that typically they respond to around 200 fires in a season. He said the number that they've responded to this year is somewhat low.

Superior water rate increase goes into effect July 1

Residents of Superior will soon see an increase in water rates of approximately 21 percent to the Base Rate Charge. The rate increase is meant to repay outstanding bonds, to cover operation and maintenance fees and to establish a reserve fund.
