As orange cones are showing up on I-90, Missoula Electric Co-op is getting a jump on spring as well. A rotten Ponderosa pine at the Forest Grove Fishing Access site is trimmed and topped just in case a big wind shows up where it could fall into a secondary electrical line of theirs, or onto east Mullan Road.

Hospital spearheads active living programs

Walking, running, dancing, anything that gets a person moving, is a good thing. Whether it’s moderate or vigorous exercise, people need to stay active in order to stay healthy. The Mineral Community Hospital Wellness Committee has set up programs to help area residents become a little healthier. They’ve set up a six-week program with participants walking 150 minutes per week.

GFWC continues to raise funds

PLAINS - A very special guest gave the Women’s Club of Plains a very special visit Friday. The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Montana (GFWC) President, Joyce Rogers, and the President-elect, Joyce Hooper, attended the club’s lunch meeting. Their purpose in attending was to introduce their special guest, Anne Loveless, the President’s Special Project Chairman: Heart Monitors.

Local veterans, leukemia patient receive comfort quilts from Cabin Fever Quilt Guild

Two lucky local veterans received comfort quilts, complements of the Cabin Fever Quilt Guild. Guild member, Birdie Warnken, recently paid a visit to Kenton Lewis and his brother, Tim Lewis who are both Navy veterans. She presented them with two quilts, one was white with brightly colored, crystal star type work surrounded by a beautiful blue border. The other was checkered with forest green squares and images of pine trees, bordered with a light red design.
