The Mineral Community Hospital board of directors and members of the Mineral Regional Health Center board met jointly last week to discuss the community health center and to discuss where they were with the application of the New Access Point grant, whose funds are made available by the Affordable Care Act, will be awarded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

PHS, T-Falls fail AYP tests

Most Sanders County schools received a passing grade from the No Child Left Behind school results which were released last Friday. According to the Montana Office of Public Instruction Web site, out of 17 schools tested, only four failed to meet adequate yearly progress (AYP) scores for the 2007-2008 school year.

Superior Fire Chief Rob Torrey resigns

Superior Volunteer Fire Department Chief Rob Torrey has quit the department effective Dec. 31, 2017. Torrey took the helm from retiring fire chief John Woodland in January 2016. Torrey has worked in the fire service field for more than 30 years and took the part-time position in order to spend more time with his wife and grandchildren.

Outdoors: Hunting tales to span generations of sportsmen

Being new to Mineral County, I was interested in learning what the locals did in their free time. The prevailing interest was definitely hunting, with people of all ages going out with guns and bows. Having never gone hunting, and knowing very little about it beyond what an uncle had told me, I decided to learn more and went in search of people’s stories.
