'Julius Caesar' performed in Superior
Cries for Cassius and cries for Marc Antony rang out from the crowd as the two men wrestled each other, opening the theatre play Julius Caesar last Thursday night. Mark Kuntz, who played Antony, welcomed audience to the Montana Shakespeare in the Parks performance.
Theatre performances coming to Mineral County
Two performances are coming to Mineral County this week. On Thursday, August 19, behind the high school, Julius Caesar will be performed as part of Montana's Shakespeare in the Parks 38th Season. Then, on August 21, in the St. Regis Community Park, get ready for some Adventures on the Western Stage. Both performances are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and are free to audiences.
Kids work at theater over summer
It was just before six o'clock on Friday night and Brendan Parrish, 14, was the first to arrive at The Historic Strand Theater for his work shift. Alyissa Hollenback, 16, quickly joined him. Brendan, who just moved into town from Arizona, started working at the theater about a week ago, where as Alyissa has been working at the theater for a couple of weeks. Upon arriving, Alyissa and Brendan were joined by Rhiannon Hobbs, 9, and Michael Perkins, 10.

Relay for Life
Celebrate. Remember. Fight back. These three words the epitome of the 12th Annual Mineral County Relay for Life event, which was held in Superior last Friday, beginning at 6 p.m. and running until 7 a.m. on Saturday morning. Throughout the night, participants celebrated the lives of those that have survived the battle with cancer, remembered those who have lost their lives and fought back by raising money to fund cancer research and programs.
Fire season delayed by rains, cooler weather
Before the county entered the month of July, it seemed like the days of rain would never come to an end, but as of late they have. Jim Ward, from the Superior Ranger District, said that although they had a good rainy season, they are still anticipating and preparing for a fire season that could potentially be bad.
Retired fire truck finds new home
It can be hard to determine the value of a used fire truck. With their use being much more than a normal vehicle, fire trucks typically can lose half of their monetary value within the first five to seven years of use according to an article found on Fire Trucks Plus Web site. However, it might be even harder to determine the value of one "retired" fire truck from the fleet of Superior's volunteer fire department.
Burn permits extedned until end of June
Fire Managers are extending all burn permits issued from the Superior Ranger Station through Monday June 28, 2010. "Predictions of precipitation for the next couple weeks should give homeowners more time to get their spring cleaning done," says Jim Ward, AFMO. After June 28th, all burn permits will be voided and no burning will be allowed. Already, this burn season, Volunteer Fire Departments and Forest Service have responded to three burns that escaped the homeowner's control.
St. Regis pavilion ready for summer use
Even if you're planning to hang around home this summer there's going to be plenty to do. The St. Regis Community Council has plenty to offer and with the newly constructed pavilion ready for use, they're planning to bring the community a summer of fun.

Hospital fundraiser a success
St. Patrick's Day parties typically are celebrated on March 17, but on April 24, the St. Regis Community Center was all decorated in green. Flashing four leaf clovers and green table cloths were only part of the lavish decorations as the Mineral County Medical Foundation put on their "Luck of the Irish" event.
Irish event planned to raise hospital funds
The Mineral County Medical Foundation has enlisted the assistance of a leprechaun in the promotion of their "Luck of the Irish" dinner, raffle and silent auction to be held at the St. Regis Community Center on April 24th at 5:30 p.m. The event is dedicated to raising funds for the Mineral Community Hospital. The highlight of the Irish night is a performance by "Singing Sons of Beaches," a popular Montana singing group known for their light humor and good music.
