For young and old alike, we have ushered in a New Year, 2014, one that will be filled with opportunities, changes and untold challenges as we prepare for upcoming elections and global situations that impact us here in America. For me it’s a bitter-sweet moment in my life as I complete my last year of service as your State Representative for House District 13.

Airport to receive boost

The BitterRoot Economic Development District, Inc (BREDD), the federally designated economic development district for Western Montana Region covering Ravalli, Mineral, and Missoula counties, was awarded $627,000 of grant money from a U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to help communities in Montana create jobs and boost local economies.

Horse riders clean trails

Five trucks rolled into Superior on Saturday, June 12, each with a horse trailer in tow. The vehicles were headed up to the Thompson Creek Trailhead just outside of Superior. But these horsemen and women from around Ronan didn't come all the way down just to go for a leisurely horseback ride. Rather they had come to spend the day clearing branches off the trail and spent the day working to open the trail up for other users.

Now that Christmas is over and all the gifts unwrapped and being enjoyed, many of us will reluctantly turn our thoughts to having to pay for all that generosity. For most of us that means paying off the credit card bill. That also means paying interest on the balance if we don't pay it off in one payment; and possibly late payment fees, underpayment fees, balance transfer fees, and if you complain, a bad attitude fee.

In a recently published Op-Ed titled “A house without walls,” a local former legislator attacked President Trump for failure to fill vacancies in his cabinet and various federal offices. Perhaps this self-appointed political expert failed to note that the nominees have been opposed by his brethren on both sides of the aisle since President Trump is not one of the old guard establishment.
