SUPERIOR - Two softball teams from Mineral County competed in the annual S & S Foods and Nugget Lounge Softball Tournament and while they didn’t come away with the winner’s trophy, they did gain experience they can bring to next year’s tourney.

Traditionally the St. Regis Visitor Information Center opens in May however after being passed up from state funding Glenn Koepke of the St. Regis Community Council told county commissioners he has “no clue” how the center will open.
St. Regis football players learn new game
Football season is a long way off, but players in St. Regis took to the field last week for a short, three-day camp. The football camp ran Monday, July 26 through Wednesday, July 28 for two hours each day from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the evenings.

The second annual Fireman’s Ball held Saturday night at the VFW in Plains was another huge success for the local fire department with large crowds filling every seat in the VFW hall awaiting a served dinner and live entertainment.

This past week, House Resolution 2 (HR 2) on Redistricting passed the House and was forwarded on to the Redistricting and Reapportionment Commission for their consideration. The Commission will deliberate on February 12, 2013 to determine if any changes will be made to their proposed plan. However, House District (HD) 13 will remain as originally planned and will be comprised of Heron, Noxon, Whitepine, Trout Creek, Thompson Falls, Marion and Kila. My amendment to request a change to HD 13 was amended out of HR 2.
Look for new faces as school starts in Mineral County
Students have sharpened their pencils and are starting a new year of school. St. Regis started on August 25, Alberton and Superior started on Monday, August 29. All of the schools have new teachers to greet them. In St. Regis and Superior, they also have new administrators to help get the year off to a good start.
