PARADISE – A severe rock slide occurred late Friday night on River Road East in Paradise. Thousands of pounds of rock blocked traffic and completely covered the road. The affected section of River Road East remains closed.

Art on the Walls scheduled

PLAINS - The Sanders County Arts Council announces the first quarter exhibit of “Art on the Walls” for 2014 at the Clark Fork Valley Hospital. This is a Student Show of original artwork, open to students from K-12 in Sanders County area public, private, or home schools. Students exhibiting this year are from Hot Springs, Noxon, Plains, and Thompson Falls. The opening reception is Tuesday, January 14th, from 5:00 until 6:30 PM, featuring musical performances by Trout Creek student musicians and the piano students of both Sydne Connolly and Heidi Mack. Linda Knight’s Consumer Sciences Class of Plains High School will provide refreshments and the Clark Fork Valley Hospital will provide beverages. Artwork will be on display from January 14th through March 24th.

Christmas concerts flood Sanders County

SANDERS COUNTY – A week before Christmas and all through the county, the children were stirring to provide musical bounty. In Plains High School on Dec. 17, students dressed in their holiday best poised their silver and brass instruments ready to begin the Christmas jubilation. The Plains High School and Middle School Christmas Concert began with a flourish as the band played Fanfare on the First Noel, a unique holiday arrangement by Travis J. Weller. According to music teacher Brittany Majerus, they attempt to mix it up from year to year.

Then from outside came a siren’s wail to break the silence of the snow, and everyone ran outside to see what there was to know. Then the wondrous eyes saw where upon a fire truck he sat, Santa Claus with his bright red coat and hat.

Christmas on Main Street to hit Thompson Falls

UPDATES: Thompson Falls' Christmas on Main Street parade as well as the Christmas Concert at the Rex Theatre has been postponed until Wednesday due to the cold, harsh weather. The parade will now take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11 and the musical performances will be at 5:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. the same day.
