A slight breeze cut through the crisp morning air at the Butte Gun Club as the shooters toted their rifles to the firing line. One by one, the competitors took their positions. At one stage, a man stepped into an old claw-foot bathtub and rested the front of his rifle on the metal rim. To his right, another shooter contemplated how to best support his rifle on a giant rubber tire while the shooter on the stage to his left took to his stomach on a rickety-looking raised wooden platform.

Twelve volleyball teams from throughout Western Montana came to Superior and St. Regis Saturday to compete in the Mineral County Shootout Volleyball Tournament.

The workshop will cover a wide-range of topics including cottage food laws; food product development; business plan development; marketing food products and more. Spring not only brings the warm weather and sunshine, it also brings the annual Hack and Blast to the Plains Trap Club.

The Feb. 10 Community Pot Luck will feature Josh Stroot of the Forest Service, who will speak about the local fires of last summer and precautions for the spring runoff. Dinners will be held at the 4-H Building at the Mineral County Fair Grounds at 6:00 pm. Coffee and lemonade will be provided along with the plates, napkins and utensils so we ask those who participate to bring an entrée, dessert or salad to share. For more information, call 822-3545.
