Robin Renae Gould Jones, 54, of Missoula, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020, at Missoula Health and Rehabilitation Center, secondary to a prolonged illness.

St. Regis long-arm quilter featured at Cabin Fever Show
Every year, the Cabin Fever Quilt Guild holds their show in Superior during the Mineral County Fair. The show is right next to the county fairgrounds in Superior High School, where the halls and multipurpose room are lined with hundreds of colorful and beautifully made quilts.
Superior school levy passes handily, 462 to 331
Faculty and staff at Superior High School were doing the happy dance on Friday after a $3.2 million levy was passed to put an addition on the present high school to allow junior high students to be moved into the facility. The unofficial vote was a whopping 462 to 331, a 131-vote lead in favor of the project.

Mineral Community Hospital’s mission statement is “to improve the health and quality of life of our community” and their annual food drive is a step in that direction according to Monte Turner who helps to organize the annual event.

Commissioners address new business impacts
The Mineral County Commissioners approved a contract for Durango’s restaurant in Superior to continue to feed inmates. Restaurant owner, Jolie Skelton, said they have had the contract for the past nine years.

Defense Wins Championships
The old adage of “defense wins championships” was alive and well in Superior this week, as the boys basketball team kept the defensive pressure on both Noxon and St. Regis to win two critical games capping off a 31-5 regular season.

Snowfall seen as worst in last 30 years
Last week, long-time Mineral County residents saw more snow than they’ve seen in 30 years. Estimates from the storm that hit last Monday, Feb. 25 were around 18 inches in Alberton, 12 in Superior and eight in St. Regis.
EPA plans to clean up Superior
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry (ATSDR) will be giving an update to the public on April 13 (Today), beginning at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the ambulance building across from the clinic in Superior.
