Dreams come true in Orlando for BPA students from local schools
Students from St. Regis, Superior and one from Alberton, joined nearly 400 members of Montana’s delegation for the National Business Professionals of America Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. Over 5,800 students from 23 state associations attended the week-long event which started on May 9.

Armed Forces Day honors two local residents
For the second time, the Retired Senior and Volunteer Program (RSVP) paid homage to local veterans on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 20. Veterans from World War I were honored, along with veterans from WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Veterans, along with family and friends gathered in the Superior High School gym at 1 p.m. Rep. Denley Loge was the emcee for the afternoon, with musician Jack Gladstone and Army Sgt. Maj. Michael Jarnevic as guests.

'Flat Broke Fair' parade hits town
The Mineral County Fair Parade began promptly at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5 on River Street in Superior. Floats, horse riders and cars crossed the bridge into town waving to the crowd and throwing candy to kids. The theme this year was “Flat Broke Fair” and the theme was the result of a shaky start this year’s fair board experienced. The budget was tight going into this year’s fair, explained the fair board secretary, Deb Davis-Quitt. However, thanks to some fundraising efforts and a $1,500 grant from Blackfoot Telephone the fair went on without a hitch.

Energy Partners in Superior under new management
Energy Partners in Superior has a new general manager, Garth Riebe. He stepped in after long-time manager Kirby Smith left Energy Partners to pursue other opportunities. Kirby had been with the company for over 30 years and the transition is a big one, Riebe said.

We Care event a success
Folks from all over Mineral County came together to take part in the We Care Festival in Superior, which was held on Saturday, Oct. 16. The gathering took place in front of the historic school building in the heart of Superior, and featured several different exhibits, activities for kids and live music courtesy of the Zylawy brothers. The event was intended as a fundraiser for the newly created We Care organization.

Little guy wrestlers compete in tournament
Nearly three hundred “little guy wrestlers” competed last weekend in a two day tournament in Superior. The tournament was one of the first qualifying tournaments for the state competition and twenty-five Superior wrestlers placed.

Lady Bobcats fall to Mission, Florence
The Lady Bobcats had slow games on the volleyball courts last week, but the games moved at a fast pace. They played Mission on Tuesday at home and then traveled to Florence on Saturday, losing both games in three sets.
Tough Breaks
The St. Regis Lady Tigers had a full schedule of volleyball last week. They started play on Tuesday with a match against St. Regis and then traveled to Charlo on Thursday. Finally, they finished out the week in Arlee with tournament play.
