Community steps in to help 6-year-old St. Regis girl fighting leukemia

While most St. Regis children are spending their winter months enjoying the snow and attending classes, 6-year-old Zaylee has spent the past several weeks lying in a hospital bed. Last year she was diagnosed with acute-lymphocytic leukemia (type B cell).

Everyone seems to have their favorite Girl Scout cookie and it’s no wonder with the yummy selection offered each year. Thin Mints were the favorite sold by Superior Troop 3802, followed by the toasted coconut-covered caramel and chocolate Samoas. This follows the national trend where Thin Mints top the list with 25 percent of the sales, followed by Samoas at 19 percent, and Tagalongs at 13 percent.

Most citizens in Sanders County can now send a short message service (SMS) text message to 911 for emergency help when unable to make a 911 voice call. This new public safety service has been brought to Sanders County by PSAP Manager Shawna Chenoweth and is available to wireless customers of T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon Wireless cell phones.

St. Regis JV football moves from flag to tackle on gridiron

St. Regis held a sports meeting on August 8 for volleyball and football. Practice started last week and will be Monday through Saturday at 7 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. until the 20th. After that, there will be just evening practice. Once school starts, it will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
