DAR honors founding with national day of service
The Kuilix Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, honored the anniversary of DAR’s founding Oct. 11, 1890, by participating in the DAR National Day of Service, an annual event in which chapters and individuals are encouraged to engage in meaningful service projects in their communities.

RSVP to host Armed Forces Day celebration in Superior on May 21
There are over 800 veterans in Mineral County, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) would like to honor them during Armed Forces Week on May 21.

SUPERIOR – Beginning next month, the Superior Volunteer Fire Department will have a new fire chief after the current chief steps down after nine years serving the community.
Community Notes
The Feb. 10 Community Pot Luck will feature Josh Stroot of the Forest Service, who will speak about the local fires of last summer and precautions for the spring runoff. Dinners will be held at the 4-H Building at the Mineral County Fair Grounds at 6:00 pm. Coffee and lemonade will be provided along with the plates, napkins and utensils so we ask those who participate to bring an entrée, dessert or salad to share. For more information, call 822-3545. With higher than average Montana voter turnout for the 2018 Midterm Election, incumbent Democrat Sen. Jon Tester slipped past Republican Matt Rosendale to retain his seat in the U.S. Senate. Tester received 50 percent of the Montana vote to Rosendale’s 47 percent. Libertarian Rick Breckenridge received 3 percent. All totaled it was 251,611 votes for Tester and 227,036 for Rosendale, a difference of 24,575 votes. Greg Gianforte was declared the winner over Kathleen Williams with 51 percent compared to her 46 percent.

Fitness Day runs through Mineral County
Laughs and cheers could be heard from the lawn of the Mineral Community Hospital Saturday morning. The excitement was from the first annual Fall Fitness Fun Day, hosted by the Mineral Community Hospital Wellness Program.

December is a time when days are filled with bazaars, shopping plans, baking, eating, decorating, singing carols, gathering together with friends and families, school programs, opportunities to help others as we celebrate Christmas. It’s a time to count our many blessings. For legislators such as me, it also is time to prepare for the upcoming 63rd Legislative Session which will start on January 7th when we are sworn into office.
