First responder Tyler Cheesman, Mineral County Sheriff Mike Toth, and Undersheriff Wayne Cashman attended a candlelight prayer vigil last Tuesday to honor the victims in a recent shooting that happened just outside of St. Regis Saturday, Feb. 6. The following Tuesday evening a large crowd gathered in 18-degree weather to pay their respects and mourn the loss of three lives, Anthony Dascher, and his sons, 7-year-old Ayden, and Brayden. Brayden, the youngest victim, passed away the morning of Feb. 9, the young boy would have turned five years old the next day. 'Amazing Grace' was sung and a time of prayer were led by Pastor Morris Hill, and church member Andy Cadman of New Day Fellowship in St. Regis. Pastor Hill prayed for comfort and healing for the victims’ family as well as the community, and for the strength of friends and neighbors to reach out to one another in the future and hopefully avoid future tragedies such as this.
