Friends of Scotchman’s Peak Wilderness (FSPW) brought together 46 kids from Thompson Falls and Noxon seventh grades for their annual Winter Tracks festival. There was lots to be learned, and lots of fun to be had at North Shore Campground with stations featuring orienteering; bird behavior and identification; track identification; and mammal furs, skulls and other sundry parts.

The Plains Business Association (PBA) met for its annual strategic planning for 2017 last week. Approximately 20 business owners met Tuesday Jan. 24 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss what will be kept, changed, or added this year. The board retained many of its officers from last year and is looking for one member. There were three presentations during the meeting, one by Kenton Pies, one by Karen Thorson, and the third was from John Thorson.

TFHS Drama Department pulls off "Once Upon a Mattress"

The Thompson Falls High School Drama Department’s production of “Once Upon a Mattress” went up for a three day run at the Rex Theatre downtown on Thursday. The musical comedy is an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, The Princess and the Pea. Directed by Jennifer Haas, Rebecca Haag and Pam Peters, the ambitious effort was rewarded with a packed house during the performance on Friday.

Market is a great addittion

Saturday was the closing day of the Thompson Falls Market and attendees enjoyed perfect fall weather, nearly 20 vendors, live music and a cinnamon roll contest that included some of the county’s best bakers (boy, those were some lucky judges!). We are fortunate to have a market that allows folks to come together from around the county to buy locally, display and sell their made/grown in Montana goods, and to just visit with neighbors.
