The Sanders County Educational Services Cooperative will soon destroy special education/speech-language therapy records of former students who have been out of school for approximately 8 years, or who will reach the age of 26 by June 1st, 2019. Former students may contact the Sanders County Educational Services Cooperative, P.O. Box 1448, Thompson Falls, MT 59873 within sixty days of this notice if they wish to obtain the information contained in them. Please be reminded that these records may be needed for social security benefits or other purposes. The information to be destroyed shall NOT include data collected on a routine basis that is maintained on all school children (such as the student's name, address, telephone number, grade level completed/year completed). The data to be destroyed shall include information regarding identification, location, evaluation, and other items directly related to special education services which the student received. Persons having questions about this process or wishing to request that special education/speech-language therapy records be destroyed may contact the Sanders County Educational Services Cooperative at 406-827-3007 for assistance. Housing shortage continues to plague Mineral County

The two-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath rental units are available for seniors who are 62 years of age and older, and are on a fixed income. The hallway that leads from the front sitting room and kitchen are wide enough for wheelchairs and the shower is equipped for handicapped individuals. “We call these ‘aging in place’ units,” said Jim Morton with the Human Resource Council and he oversees programs in Mineral, Missoula and Ravalli counties.

Report from week three: Bills are starting to work their way through
This week saw the hustle and bustle the Legislature is known for. The bills are now coming out of committees and on to the floor in greater numbers. The Senate has also passed enough bills across the floor that they are even showing up in House committees and vice versa.

St. Regis Fire Department buys a new water tender
The St. Regis Volunteer Fire Department is now the proud owner of a new water tender. It replaces an old tender, “that leaked more than it held,” said Assistant Fire Chief Kat Kittridge. The tactical tender brings water to fire trucks in the field that are engaged on a fire line. Plus they are equipped with other fire and medical equipment. The department also received new extrication gear, including the “Jaws of Life” and a “ram” extrication tool. This tool will be gifted to the Superior Volunteer Fire Department.

Battle over Cyr Road closure continues
