Superior graduate leads her new team to a title
Last weekend, the Saco-Whitewater girls’ basketball team won their first state basketball championship in the history of either school, as a co-op team in Class C. And though the team isn’t from Mineral County and probably isn’t even familiar with the area, the team’s coach, Amber Erickson, is.

Superior thrift store reopens
The Women in Timber thrift store in Superior opened back up to customers on July 21 after being closed for nearly half a year. One of the original founders of the store, Joann Merseal said, “This has been one of the longest spans of time we’ve been shut down, and we’ve been open since 1987.”

Mr. Yeager’s sixth-grade class at St. Regis School is planning an end-of-the-year project to donate backpacks to kids in need. The backpacks will be filled with school supplies for next fall. They are currently accepting cash donations and will have a booth, “Mineral County Makes a Difference” at the three-day flea market in St. Regis over Memorial Day weekend.

Volleyball divisionals flew into Superior last week and the competition heated up on the courts from Thursday through Friday. The home team played against Eureka on Thursday. Fans packed the gym decked out in red, white and blue. The team’s teddy bear even had a seat in the front row.
