Jury finds Craig McCrea guilty of two counts of felony arson
During opening statements in the trial against accused arsonist Craig McCrea, Assistant Attorney General Thorin Geist told jurors what to expect from the prosecution as the trial unfolded this week at the Lake County Courthouse. After three days of testimony, they began deliberations around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, and emerged five hours later with a verdict of guilty on two of four charges of arson.

Guill-ty as charged
Heron resident Douglas Guill was found guilty of sexually assaulting his daughter while she was between the ages of 6 and 22 Tuesday in Thompson Falls. A Sanders County jury brought back guilty verdicts on all five felony counts, which included one count of sexual assault, two counts of sexual intercourse without consent and two counts of incest.

Pair-a-Dice Lost
The still fresh scent of last week's fire lingers in the air of Paradise. The devastating flames eliminated one -third of the town's businesses and left a gaping hole on the edge of the community. Although the Pair-A-Dice bar and grill is in ruins its memories are still rumbling fiercely throughout the town.
Sexual assault trial ends with hung jury
After nearly five days of testimony and six hours of deliberation, the jury could not return a verdict in the trial of a Plains man accused of sexually assaulting an underage, physically disabled girl.

On Jan. 31 there will be a free workshop for “Taking Your Food Business From Concept to Consumer” held at the Ponderosa Building at the Mineral Community Hospital in Superior. The workshop will cover a wide-range of topics including cottage food laws; food product development; business plan development; marketing food products and more. Two Eagle River travelled to Superior from Pablo on Tuesday, Feb. 7 for a close 59-57 win in varsity boy’s basketball. The Clark Fork Mountain Cats took an early 15-6 lead in the first quarter. Clark Fork still had the lead at the half, 32-25. In the third quarter, the game tipped in the Eagles favor and they jumped ahead, putting 21 points up to the Cats 12. Both teams scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, leaving Two Eagle with the win. Nick Turnbull and Michael Spence led Clark Fork with 13 points each while Bryan Mask and Carson Callison both had 11 and Drake Neill added two points.
