Students talk to lawmakers about underage drinking
A week of exciting, fun activities is at hand for the community of Superior. Several activities including a kids' camp, nightly barbecue, a pig roast and a special musical presentation have been planned for the week of August 1 through August 5. Superior Community Church along with a team of youth and their leaders of Christ Church of Federal Way will be presenting these events and working throughout the week to bless the local community.

Final Four-legged fever hit Mineral County last week as donkeys hit the floor boards in the St. Regis gym. The junior high school class brought the floppy-ear critters to town through Donkey Sports Inc. as a fundraiser where students and staff from St. Regis and Superior faced-off for braying rights.

Superior Fire Chief Rob Torrey resigns
Superior Volunteer Fire Department Chief Rob Torrey has quit the department effective Dec. 31, 2017. Torrey took the helm from retiring fire chief John Woodland in January 2016. Torrey has worked in the fire service field for more than 30 years and took the part-time position in order to spend more time with his wife and grandchildren.

National Honor Society students from Superior High School recently worked together to support a local family in need.

David 'Sonny' Mickelson
David ‘Sonny’ Mickelson, 79, of Superior, Mont., passed away at Deer Lodge Medical Center on Dec. 28, 2018, from complications due to pneumonia. Sonny had resided at the Deer Lodge Care Center for the past year due to advanced Alzheimer’s disease.

Lady Bobcats outlast St. Regis in tight match
In what was the first meeting of the 2022 volleyball season this past Wednesday between the two rivals located just 14 miles apart along I-90, and Homecoming for one of them to boot. And both teams had enough energy to be factors in a regional, special format tournament that was held most of Saturday in Superior, St. Regis and Alberton.

Anthony Parkin, of Superior, won the state championship in the 105 weight class for Class C, defeating Morgan Schultz from Mission-Charlo. The championship took place in Billings on Saturday, Feb. 9.

On a cold, wet day in Superior, Montana, a spelling bee was about to begin. All of the 17 contestants were very nervous to start spelling in front of the whole school. The contestants consisted of fifth-, sixth-, and seventh-graders.
