Plains students showcased in Christmas concert
Monday’s evening performance by Plains students in grades 7 through 12 filled the bleachers in the new gymnasium for this year's Christmas concert.

The Plains-Paradise Rural Fire District took to a property on River Road West to take advantage of some structure fire training last week.
Garland R. Slider, 72
Garland R. Slider died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, June 6 at his home at 7 Eagle Valley Lane, Plains, MT. Born in Brownwood, TX December 29, 1944, he is survived by his wife Charlotte, a brother from TX, two stepsons and a daughter. Garland was a career railroad engineer and retired to his much loved Montana in 2005. A memorial luncheon will be announced at a later date.
Police Respond to Dixon
DIXON – Law enforcement personnel gathered in Dixon, early Saturday afternoon, in response to threats against the police.
Paisley Dean French
PLAINS – Paisley Dean French was born on December 19, 2013 at Clark Fork Valley Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds 15.5 ounces and was 20 inches long. Her parents are Gretchen and Beau French. Maternal grandparents are Ken and Dede Steinebach of Plains. Paternal parents are Jamie and Lisa French of Paradise. PLAINS – Jeremiah John Goodwin was born on July 23, 2014 at 2:37 a.m. at Clark Fork Valley Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds and 8 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Parents are Jessica and Wesley Goodwin. Maternal grandparents are Shawn and Cathy Emmett of Plains. Paternal grandparents are John and Sandy Goodwin of Plains. Great-grandparents are Leona Ekstrom of Plains and Ruth of Hamilton.

Parents are Acacia and Beau Stewart of Thompson Falls. Maternal grandparents are Lynne and Orville Eaton of Trout Creek. Paternal grandparents are Pat and Darrin Baker of Thompson Falls. Great-grandparents are Rosemary and Walter Borgmann and Patty and Clyde Baker.

The Plains Horsemen dropped their second straight game of the season, falling 41-26 to Darby Saturday afternoon.

Ski slopes starting to open
Snow storms have been rolling through the Clark Fork valley as skier’s wax their boards and get ready for another season on the slopes. Lookout Ski area reported eight inches of new snow on Monday, Dec. 5. They plan on reopening the slopes on Thursday, Dec. 8 and say they have 34 inches at the base and 40 inches at the summit.
