NOTICE OF SALE GOOD NEIGHBOR AUTHORITY Department of Natural Resources & Conservation Timber Sale The GNA Buick Divide Timber Sale is located within Sections 9, 10, 14, 15, & 16, of T25N - R34W; and Section 34, of T25N -R34W on the Kootenai National Forest. Approximately 22,581 tons, consisting of mixed conifer sawlogs, are offered for sale. Sealed bids will be opened at the Department of Natural Resources & Conservation, 2705 Spurgin Road, Missoula, Montana on October 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Bids may be hand delivered or mailed and will be accepted any time prior to the bid opening. DNRC recommends that bidders contact the Forestry Division (406-542-4300) prior to the bid opening to ensure that your bid has been received. Bids must be accompanied by a deposit of $13,435.00, representing 5% of the minimum bid value of the sale in cashier's check, certified check, bank money order or bank draft to be applied to the first sale invoice for the successful bidder. Bid bonds will be accepted and, for the successful bidder, will be closed upon execution of the Timber Sale Contract and Timber Sale Bond. The sale will be awarded to the highest responsible bidder. If the successful bidder is unable to execute the contract within 30 calendar days from the date the sale is awarded, the bid deposit will be retained by the Department as liquidated damages. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids. Deadlines are a fact of life for most everyone, and our schools are no exception.  Many of the deadlines schools work with are determined by state law.  School elections, both trustee and levy, are outlined in Montana Code Annotated (MCA).  MCA provides detailed descriptions on the rules and mechanisms for conducting the business of elections in a fair manner for all.  Funding of our schools is affected by both election laws and traditional legislative action. Plains Public Schools would like to outline how these laws and traditions have influenced recent school funding decisions.

To coordinate or not to coordinate

I am more than curious after reading recent letters to the editor articles in both the Valley Press and Ledger about the status of coordination in Sanders County.  This process, as I understand it, had been approved over two years ago and required a signature of just one of three Sanders County Commissioners to initiate a meeting with the US Forest Service.

FWP seeks applicants for Region One CAC

SANDERS COUNTY - Over the past month, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) has solicited for volunteer applicants to fill four slots on the Region One Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC is in its 19th year and was established to provide input and guidance to FWP from the public. This is a general advisory committee that works with FWP on all issues and programs. The Committee is advisory in nature and does not have decision-making responsibilities.

Public comments sought for local environmental projects

The Mineral County Resource Coalition held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 2 in Superior. MSU Extension Agent, Kevin Chamberlain, chaired the committee. He said that he was glad to see people from several different departments and industry at the table.
