Superior home gets a new paint job, thanks to local volunteers

Last week around 20 people showed up at an old house for a party in Superior. But this was no ordinary party, it was actually a painting party arranged by the United Methodist Women’s group. They decided to start an annual mission project to paint a house a year in Superior.

Mushroom buyers have been in Sanders County for about a month now as both locals and professional commercial pickers collect the morels from the vast area burned last year in the Copper King Fire. According to Dena Wiley and Robin Daems, two of the buyers out of Washington State, the Conicals are reaching the end of their season while the Greys are just coming in. At the peak of the season pickers were bringing in about 1000 pounds per day while now the take is about 200 lbs.

Obituary; Dallas Layne Beals

Dallas Layne Beals, age 75 of Walla Walla, passed away at his home on Monday, May 11, 2015.  He was born to the late Dallas and Mary Beals on Sept 26, 1939 in Silesia, Montana.  He graduated from Edgar (MT) High School in 1957 and enlisted in the US Navy.  He was assigned to the USS Yorktown (CV-10) and he made two WestPac deployments.  After his discharge, he moved back to Montana and married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Sielinsky.
