Mineral County sends tax bill to Forest Service
The Secretary of Agriculture who oversees the U.S. Forest Service, will be receiving a property tax bill from Mineral County this year. County Commissioners Laurie Johnston, Roman Zylawy, and Duane Simons signed the letter requesting property tax revenue for 2017. The “historic letter” as defined by House District 14 Representative, Denley Loge, describes the plight Mineral County is facing as options to fund the county have dried up.

Interstate shut down in Mineral County
MINERAL COUNTY – A section of Interstate 90 in the western part of Mineral County was closed last weekend by the Montana Department of Transportation after debris from a landslide littered the highway making travel too hazardous for westbound motorists.

Local Plains resident participates in AQHA horseback riding program
February 25, 2010-Jessica L. Read of Plains, Mt., recently earned an award for logging 1,500 hours in the American Quarter Horse Association Horseback Riding Program. The program recognizes and rewards AQHA Members for time spent with their American Quarter Horse in activities such as trail rides, working cattle, pleasure driving and simply riding.
Alberton doesn't see placings, but continues to better individual marks
The girls and boys of the Alberton track team finally got a chance to compete this past weekend. The team lost April 13 meet, the Loyola Relays to weather. Before that, the Florence Invitational was also cancelled due to weather related conditions. And while the team headed up to the Seeley Invitational on April 24 at the Big Sky Track once again the weather proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Although the meet wasn't cancelled or postponed, it was a cold day to be out on the track.
