Savage Heat top Heart Butte; VC next foe
It was a nice evening for early October in Hot Springs last Friday, but lighting bolts were prevalent during the first quarter while the Savage Heat were hosting Heart Butte in Hot Springs’ Homecoming game.

Alberton clothing designer 'inspired by nature'
Inspired by her love for the outdoors, Alberton resident Yana Robertson has created a growing businesses selling outdoor apparel, specializing in leggings and yoga pants. The name of her business represents her passion, called Pure Venatic. Venatic meaning in part, “people engaged in, or given to, hunting.” But, she says, the meaning goes beyond the traditional hunt, and expands into hunting for things like mushrooms, berries and other wildlife.
Superior man dies in truck crash on interstate
Thomas Hinderman, 71, of Superior died on Tuesday, Aug. 28 after his white Toyota Tundra went off the road and into the median. The accident happened around 4 a.m. east of Superior near mile marker 54 on Interstate 90.

Althoff's historical statue well on its way to reality
Ore to Oar is a Mineral County Historical Art project spearheaded by Emily Ornelas, which will result in a statue gracing the front lawn of the courthouse in Superior. The artist, Dennis Althoff, along with Ornelas had a booth at the Mineral County Fair in early August to show the work that has been done so far, as well as to help collect donations for the project.

DNRC gives water tender to Superior Fire Department
It’s hard to hear yourself talk when driving down the highway in the Superior Fire Department’s water tender. The giant vehicle only gets about four miles to the gallon, and is equipped with two 50-gallon fuel tanks. It’s loaded with 28,000 gallons of water and can rip up the mountains to attack wildfires.

Cabin Fever Quilters show work during annual show
Hundreds of brightly colored quilts decorated the halls and rooms of Superior High School during the Mineral County Fair on Aug. 3 and 4. This was the Cabin Fever Quilters 18th Annual Show, with the theme “Outdoors Montana.”

The Mineral County “Smokin’ Hot Fair” held last week was another well-attended three-day event — bringing in people from all over the northwest.

Horsewomen 'Peel-the-Apple' at the fair
From April until August, a group of women mount their horses and practice a bevy of maneuvers weekly in order to put on a special show once a year. he show is the Mineral County Fair, and the women belong to the horse drill team called the Skyline Drifters.
