Local Thompson Falls author publishes second book
Art on the Walls scheduled
PLAINS - The Sanders County Arts Council announces the first quarter exhibit of “Art on the Walls” for 2014 at the Clark Fork Valley Hospital. This is a Student Show of original artwork, open to students from K-12 in Sanders County area public, private, or home schools. Students exhibiting this year are from Hot Springs, Noxon, Plains, and Thompson Falls. The opening reception is Tuesday, January 14th, from 5:00 until 6:30 PM, featuring musical performances by Trout Creek student musicians and the piano students of both Sydne Connolly and Heidi Mack. Linda Knight’s Consumer Sciences Class of Plains High School will provide refreshments and the Clark Fork Valley Hospital will provide beverages. Artwork will be on display from January 14th through March 24th.

The Symes Hotel in Hot Springs was filled with the sounds of traditional Spanish dancing on Saturday as Flamenco Montana from Missoula displayed their talents for about 30 spectators.

PLAINS - Monday evening, visitors of the Plains United Methodist Church were given a very special treat for a very small price. A classical duo, violinist Paul Rosenthal and pianist Doris Stevenson performed for an hour in front of the visitors who filled the pews of the church.

Armed Forces Day honors two local residents
For the second time, the Retired Senior and Volunteer Program (RSVP) paid homage to local veterans on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 20. Veterans from World War I were honored, along with veterans from WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Veterans, along with family and friends gathered in the Superior High School gym at 1 p.m. Rep. Denley Loge was the emcee for the afternoon, with musician Jack Gladstone and Army Sgt. Maj. Michael Jarnevic as guests.

Karen Jean Walston
Karen Jean Walston, 51 years old of Plains, MT died September 11, 2015 in Plains, MT, due to a car accident. She was born December 30, 1963 in San Francisco, California. She was raised in California and Washington and later moved to Missouri before her final move to Montana. She drove truck and traveled the country with her late husband Don Walston. She loved her dogs and animals, loved going to swap meets, loved spending time in the outdoors. Enjoyed hanging out with family and friends playing cards games. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Florence Fenwick, and her brothers David and Paul Fenwick. She is survived by her sisters: Linda (Donald) Lewis of Fayetteville, NC, Diane McAuley of Centralia, WA and Judy Fenwick-Miller of Plains, MT and her brothers Randy Fenwick of Grayland, WA, Jerry (Laurie) Fenwick of Fircrest, WA and Kevin (Lisa) Fenwick of Bellingham, WA. Boyfriend Vic Miller of Plains, MT, an uncle and aunt of California, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. There was a Memorial Service held Monday September 21st at 12pm at Church on the Move 300 Central, Plains MT, 59859.
