Plains kicks off celebrations on Independence Day
The Plains VFW kicked of the Fourth of July celebrations with a picnic in the park.

Smokey Bear goes to school
On Friday, Feb. 10, the Plains Elementary classes, kindergarten through sixth grade, had a visit from Smokey Bear during the ‘I Love to Read’ month of activities. Smokey Bear had help from Plains Elementary counselor Molly Tingley and Kate Airhart from the Lolo National Forest, Plains Ranger Station. Both women gave pencils and colorful stickers to students as they waited to meet Smokey. Many students walked up to Smokey and gave high fives and hugs. Tingley encouraged the students, “Keep reading, we are almost half way through February.”
Dottie Sandkuhle, 86
Dottie Sandkuhle, 86, passed away peaceably on 5 August 2017 in Plains. She was born in McFarland, California on 25 January 1931 to Gladys Woodford (Jack Woodford) and Wayne Richards (Geraldine).

Plains Fire gets donation

Art on the Walls to open Thursday
Sanders County Arts Council announces the opening of the Summer Show of “Art on the Walls” at Clark Fork Valley Hospital on Thursday, June 27, 2013. The public is invited to join the artists at the Opening Reception from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the hospital lobby. Music will be provided by piano students of Heidi Mack and Sydne Connolly plus John Meckler and friends and his handcrafted instruments. Original artworks by these new and returning Sanders County Artists are featured.: Valerie Curtiss, Andrew Gonzalez, Rachel Gonzalez, Rodney Helterline, Judy Horton, Mary McClenahan, John Meckler, Sadee Miller, Kenton Pies and Lily Warrington.
