MDEQ talks Superfund
The head of the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and several other representatives from the organization met with the Mineral County Commissioners and other interested parties at the commissioner’s meeting room in Superior Wednesday to discuss concerns about listing the Flat Creek Mine area as a Superfund site.

Billon-dollar rocket saved thanks to Superior alum
A searing heat pounded down on a fire crew as winds pulled flames 70 feet into the air and caused an archway over the road above them. Power lines burst overhead in the rising flames. In the distance they heard explosions and saw trees blow up as unexploded ordnance, or UXO’s, ignited from the fire. On an air force launchpad located 800 yards away sat an Atlas Five rocket carrying a Google Satellite worth nearly $1 billion.

Moore, one of four patients to be part of the first class offered through Clark Fork Valley Hospital’s (CFVH) newly launched Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, has gone from using her oxygen tank 24 hours a day to using it only while she sleeps after only four course sessions.

Quilt show a success
The multipurpose room and the hallways of Superior High School were draped with beautiful pieces of arts. Quilts of all colors, patterns, shapes and designs were hung throughout the school for the Cabin Fever Quilter's Show entitled "A Century of Growth," to commemorate the Fire of 1910.
Project concerns neighbors
Plans for construction on a plot of land off of River Road West in Plains have area residents concerned about potential repercussions. While several residents of the neighborhood above River Road West have voiced apprehensions about the proposed construction due largely to environmental concerns, officials from Sanders County have asserted that there would be no inherent risk in the proposed building.
