The Catholic Church in Superior will host Lenten lunches on Tuesdays until Holy Week (April 14-20). The first lunch was March 12 and then held on Tuesdays until April 9. Lunch is noon to 1 p.m. The Methodist, Assembly of God, LDS, Catholic and Community Churches will be responsible for each lunch. Donations will be accepted with proceeds supporting a local charity. The game of pool is usually played with a stick and on a table with six pockets. Eight balls, striped and solid are usually placed in the middle and the first shooter must break the ball rack apart. However, on Friday, June 25, the pool game at community game night was a little different.

Syrian refugees are not welcome in Sanders County

THOMPSON FALLS — The message is clear from the Sanders County Board of Commissioners: We do not want Syrian refugees on our land, “draining” resources, “impacting” the tax base, and possibly putting everyone in harm’s way. In an official letter addressing the issue, the commissioners cite a vetting process that is “foolproof”—meaning, one that cannot fail. Ever. And so, they have heard many voices ranging from Syrians are automatically terrorists to anti-Muslim attitudes—because according to many people, being a Muslim is proof of an egregious slight against the laws of God and nature.

Forest Service plans thinning project on Cruzane Mountain

The Lolo National Forest has issued the draft decision notice for the Cruzane Mountain project, a 3,790-acre project located on the Superior Ranger District in Mineral County, about three miles west of Haugen and northeast of Saltese.
