3/20/11 12:41 a.m.- A reporting party called about a vehicle that slid off of Upper Lynch Creek Rd. with three females in the vehicle.  They women stated they were fine and just wanted a ride home from a deputy, but had to stay at the scene until an officer arrived. One woman was complaining of back and neck pain.

Kids get introduced to basketball

It was seven in the morning on Monday, but that didn’t stop a group of third and fourth graders from heading to the gym to practice their basketball skills with Coach Jeff Schultz. The girls were signed up with the YMCA league in Missoula and have played a total of six games.  Schultz also took time to coach the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grader prior to the regular season of junior high basketball.

In 1907, a forester named Elers Koch was on his honeymoon in Mineral County. While on horseback, Koch came across an abandoned homestead along the Savenac Creek and dreamed of building a nursery. Koch’s dream would soon become a reality and begin over 100 years of forestry history at the Savenac nursery.

Mr. Yeager’s sixth-grade class at St. Regis School is planning an end-of-the-year project to donate backpacks to kids in need. The backpacks will be filled with school supplies for next fall. They are currently accepting cash donations and will have a booth, “Mineral County Makes a Difference” at the three-day flea market in St. Regis over Memorial Day weekend.
