Look for new faces as school starts in Mineral County

Students have sharpened their pencils and are starting a new year of school. St. Regis started on August 25, Alberton and Superior started on Monday, August 29. All of the schools have new teachers to greet them. In St. Regis and Superior, they also have new administrators to help get the year off to a good start.

FWP to stock 432,000 trout in area lakes and ponds

Despite heavy budget cuts in the Fisheries Division of Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP), Mineral and Sanders counties will still see lakes and ponds stocked with approximately 432,000 fish over the next five years. Fish, Wildlife and Parks owns or operates 12 fish hatcheries and stocks 50 million fish in 836 lakes and reservoirs, and 23 rivers and streams annually.

DeBorgia woman honored for schoolhouse contributions

Norma A. Hansen was honored recently at the annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and celebration held in the Historic DeBorgia School House.  Norma is one of the last three living members of the original group that comprised the Happy Homemakers Club.  The Happy Homemakers Club was founded over 25 years ago to save the Old DeBorgia School House as the school house had been effectively abandoned when Norma and her fellow members intervened to save the school house for posterity.
