Mule deer quotas adjusted in response to spring surveys
While mule deer populations remain steady in portions of the state, spring green-up surveys conducted by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks wildlife biologists showed populations in some parts of the state remain lower than desired, and as a result, licenses available to hunters in those areas have been cut back.

he Mineral County 4-H Shooting Sports Team wrapped up a successful season with the Montana 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament in Bozeman earlier this month. Some of the top scoring advanced Rifle team members will be heading to Nationals at Camp Perry, Ohio, June 26 through the 28.

Groups band together to help reforest Sunrise burn area
Looking over the terrain of Sunrise Mountain swaths of black tree stands are a stark reminder of the wildfire that ravaged the area last summer. The fire chewed through 27,000 acres which was primarily Lolo National Forest Land. The area is a mix of conifer forest on steep mountainous terrain and affected a number of drainages including Trout, Cougar, Verde, Sunrise, Meadow, and Quartz Creeks.

HOT SPRINGS – The Savage Heat defeated Seeley-Swan in a scrappy nail-biter Saturday night. It was a close game with both teams tied at 43-43 going into the 4th quarter. Hot Springs managed to pull away with a final score of 54-48.
