Red Sleep Mountain Drive to open at Bison Range
The staff of the National Bison Range would like to remind you that Red Sleep Mountain Drive is scheduled to open for the summer season on Saturday, May 11, 2013. We are hoping that the worse of the spring weather is behind us and that road conditions will allow travel along the scenic drive. We the People: agency bills
Last week we finished up our work on the Law and Justice Interim Committee (LJIC). The LJIC provides oversight of the Department of Justice, the Department of Correction and the Office of Public Defenders. It was at this meeting that these state agencies brought forth their bill proposals for the next session. The Department of Justice has seventeen bill requests. Some of these have been brought up at previous sessions. There appears to be a habit of continuing to introduce a bill until it eventually becomes law. One of these, the Primary Seatbelt Law is a good example, this bill was narrowly defeated last session. Here is a synopsis of other bill requests:

St. Regis schools to celebrate centennial this weekend
For those planning the St. Regis centennial celebration, the long months of putting together all the addresses of former classmates and teachers, as well as organizing activities for them to enjoy, is over. This weekend, St. Regis schools will celebrate 100 years. And while the district is actually 110 years old as it was chartered in 1900, the board is hoping for a great turnout, as this may be a long time before another event similar to this one is planned.

Noxon teacher honored for excellence
Mrs. Teri Burt has been given the Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Health and Physical Educators of Montana (SHAPEMT). Noxon teacher Mrs. Teri Wilkinson nominated Burt for the award. Burt was surprised and not used to the attention.

Sanders County celebrates Relay for Life
THOMPSON FALLS - The Sanders County Relay for Life was held at the Thompson Falls High School Friday evening. People from all over convened at the school to participate in the annual event to help raise funds, which would directly go to the American Cancer Society (ACS), which supports cancer research and the support of individuals fighting cancer.
