Local support for CTE bill
ST. REGIS – Mineral County educators, including one from St. Regis, are hoping the Montana State Senate passes a bill that could see funding for Career and Technical Education (CTE) increase ten fold.

MINERAL COUNTY – In a recent Mineral County Justice Court report, an unusual entry was listed as a ticket given to a driver for not speaking English.

Fire breaks out at bark mill
A fire broke out at the Mountain West Bark on Thursday night. Firefighters from the Superior Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire between 7 and 8 p.m. according to Fire Chief John Woodland. Firefighters from the St. Regis Department also were out twice to assist crews with the burn. The fire was still burning at about 5 p.m. on Friday night, creating a heavy smoke in the valley.

No injuries, little damage as a result of stove fire
Sanders County city and rural fire departments responded to a possible chimney fire call on Lyla Lane off of Lower Lynch Creek Road in Plains on Monday afternoon. No one was injured.
Residents warned of false evacuation orders
Mineral County Sheriff Tom Bauer was reminding residents that only uniformed law enforcement officers or fire officials will ask them to evacuate. The warning is the result of a report last week from a resident in the Lozeau area who was allegedly approached by an individual who told them they needed to evacuate immediately. However, he did not appear to be an official with law enforcement or the fire department.

Plains flying high
Boys and girls sweep County Meet, Thompson dominates at Kalispell Plains Track
With two days before the District Track meet in Bigfork senior Trent Thompson is throwing the best he has all season. After making news last week for breaking Plain's shot put record the senior went to the most competitive meet of the season, Archie Roe in Kalispell, and came away with two first place finishes in the shot put and discus and grabbed a personal record in the javelin.

Last Saturday, the Superior little guy wrestlers spent the day in Frenchtown at the second of three Inter Valley Tournaments. The wrestlers have one more qualifying tournament left before the state competition and so the short week season will soon be drawing to a close.
