In March Mineral County resident Joan Carol attended a Pro-Life Rally in Kalispell featuring a series of guest speakers as well as a “Walk of Remembrance” where balloons were held and then released by attendees.

Events and Updates

As part of a campaign to address the issue of lack of exercise and obesity’ substantiated in the Community Health Improvement Plan taken in Mineral County last spring, Mineral Community Hospital initiated a hiking program focused on getting people outdoors to enjoy the wonderful trails, lakes and vistas that make up the majority of our landscape. 2016 was the first year and consisted of a core group of 8-10 for the five hikes that were completed (two were rained out). However, by the end of the season, other people heard about this group and asked to be involved in 2017.

UPDATE: Woodland said the fire was started by a welding operation on the Lozeau Bridge. Earlier reports stated a firefighter was possibly injured. It was later determined one of the firefighters from SVFD was suffering from heat exhaustion and was treated and released.

Redd Bull project area needs public comment

The Forest Service is hosting a field trip to the Redd Bull project area on Tuesday, June 28. The project area is located south and west of St. Regis in the Dry, Little Joe, Twomile and Ward Creek areas. The purpose of the trip is to share information and discuss management options for this popular recreational area.
