Crash on hwy 135 leaves two injured

MINERAL COUNTY - A one-vehicle rollover occurred early Friday afternoon on Montana highway 135 that resulted in injuries to two men and a dog.

SANDERS COUNTY - Out of the S-Curves that narrow onto the Clark Fork River on Montana highway 200, a semi-truck and trailer carrying pallets of rock rolled over in the rain at 7 p.m. last night.

A Dodge Ram stuck two vehicles outside of “Trophy Taker” in Plains. The accident occurred on Highway 200 toward Thompson Falls at 4:08 p.m. on April 12.

On March 31 the Plains VFW dining hall was packed to capacity for the annual Fireman’s Ball. Firemen from the Plains Volunteer Fire Department served up around 250 people who were looking for a fun night out.

Semi tips over on I90

A semi-trailer traveling eastbound down Interstate 90  tipped over Saturday morning.  At approximately 8:30 a.m. rescue crews were called out to the scene.

Cuddy's Ford truck after the accident with a semi-truck. Cuddy suffered severe injuries from the event but is recovering.

Valley Towing of Plains pulled the gray Ford Taurus from the trees and brush. They initially had to adjust cables in order to flip the car right-side up before they were able to tow it out onto the highway. A Sanders County Sheriff deputy directed traffic during this process.

The summer season in Superior reached a fever pitch last weekend as the Mineral County Fairgrounds filled with people for the annual County Fair.

Car flips into Clark Fork river

PLAINS - The Sanders County Sheriff's Office received an emergency call early today at 7:16 a.m. from a residence on River Road West stating a car had flipped over and was halfway submerged in the Clark Fork river.

Hundreds of on-lookers lined Old US Highway 10 in downtown St. Regis Monday afternoon to enjoy the Fourth of July Parade. The parade kicked off a day full of events to celebrate the national holiday.

Classic cars lined the lawn outside the old school house in Superior Saturday afternoon. Oldies music played and pictures were taken as car enthusiasts joined together for the 12th annual Old School House Rock Car Show.

Ada F. Schmoyer

Ada F. Schmoyer, 91, died Monday, April 4 at her home in Plains. She was born Oct. 15, 1919 to Guss and Jessie Butler Shrader in Kearney, Nebraska.  She spent her first five years on a ranch where they farmed and had cattle. They then moved to Sweet Water, Neb. where they lived for about ten years until her father homesteaded in Pavillion, WY.She graduated from Pavillion WY, in 1937. She later taught school and worked at other jobs over the years. It was there in 1942 that she met and married Marion Schmoyer in 1942 and they moved to Baker, MT. Two children were born to them , Sharon Ann and Dale LeRoy. She also raised her step son Richard who was four at the time. Due to health problems they moved to Western Montana. In 1952 they bought a place on Combest Creek Rd and have lived there since. She was active in Senior Citizens, the Rebekah’s, VFW Aux. and the Lutheran church womens group.   She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Alfred, Charles, Merl Shrader. Her step son Richard Schmoyer and a sister, Nellie Stevens. She is survived by her son, Dale schmoyer, daughter, Sharon Ann Warner, both of Plains. And sister, Thelma Daniels of Reno, NV. Memorial Services will be held Saturday April 16 at 11:00 AM at the Plains First Lutheran Church. Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Plains are entrusted with the arrangements.

"Art on the Walls" returns to hospital

Thirteen local artists from Sanders County are now displaying their work at the new “Art on the Walls” exhibit in the halls of Clark Fork Valley Hospital in Plains.

3/20/11 12:41 a.m.- A reporting party called about a vehicle that slid off of Upper Lynch Creek Rd. with three females in the vehicle.  They women stated they were fine and just wanted a ride home from a deputy, but had to stay at the scene until an officer arrived. One woman was complaining of back and neck pain.
