Year in Review 2017:
The year 2017 was ushered in on the back of an epic snow storm which dump nearly a foot of snow on the valley in early January. It was just one of many natural disasters and phenomenon which dominated headlines throughout the year.

Sirens wailed and screams pierced the air May 27 as Emergency Medical Technician trainees arrived by ambulance at the Sanders County Fairgrounds to help 30-plus mock victims. The EMT trainees were completing their final class event, a mass casualty scenario.

Play transports Superior
Montana Shakespeare in the Parks brought the Superior audience back to Venice and Belmont in the mid-1950s. The traveling actors performed Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice”.
Thompson Falls woman accused of federal fraud charges
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Montana, 49-year-old Tina Rae Wood appeared in court in Missoula Aug. 30 and pleaded not guilty.
Polson woman accused of deliberate homicide
Sharon Whitworth, 56, of Polson is charged with the death on Sunday of Tonya Charles, 63, also of Polson, Sheriff Don Bell said.

4Hers compete at congress
Eight Sanders County youth attended the 83rd Annual 4-H Congress held on the Montana State University campus in Bozeman July 9-12. “4-H in Action” was a perfect theme for the event at which youth gained skills in the areas of technology, leadership, communication, community service and team work; powerful tools that will benefit them on their journey through life.

The St. Regis Lady Tigers squared off against the Lady Vikings in Charlo on Friday, Dec. 8 with a win, 38 to 27. The Vikings held a one point lead at the end of the first quarter with 10 to 11. But in the second quarter the Tigers turned up the heat and added 14 more points to the board making it 24 to 18 at the half.
