Cancer Network of Sanders County to host event
PLAINS - Cancer Network of Sanders County invites everyone to come to the 12th Annual Fall Fundraising event – “Brats, Hops & Grapes,” on Saturday, October 5 at the Sanders County Fairgrounds Pavilion from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.. There will be a silent auction, a live auction, and plenty of food, wine and beer for all. It is, however, a night for the adults as you must be 21 to attend.

With just three wrestlers competing in the prestigious Flathead Girls Invitational meet, the Plains-Hot Springs squad finished eighth Saturday in a field of 22 teams from throughout the state.

Thanksgiving travel expected to increase over '17 numbers
AAA is projecting that more than 54 million Americans will travel nationwide over this Thanksgiving holiday, a 4.8-percent increase over last year, or 2.5 million travelers. This is also predicted to be the highest Thanksgiving travel volume since 2005. This is despite higher gas prices at the pump with the national average at $2.79 as of Nov. 1, a 31-cent increase over this same time last year.

The Superior Little Guy wrestlers heading into the Valley Tournament Saturday with new shirts, and while brandishing the large Superman “S” across their chests may not have given them the strength to leap over tall buildings in a single bound, outrun speeding bullets or stop a locomotive, but it did give them strength to take home nine first place finishes from Thompson Falls.

At the State Wrestling tournament in Billings, only six wrestlers from the western region of Montana made it to the Championship round. Of those six, only two walked away with a state title. Ben Conover of Thompson Falls was one of those wrestlers after winning state in the 145-weight class.

BILLINGS - The Savage Horsemen, Bluehawk, and Red Devil grapplers made the trek to the state wrestling tournament in Billings over the weekend, and displayed their talent and commitment to their respective programs and training regimens over the course of the season, culminating in some memorable matches that left each wrestler more experienced, all the more wiser.

LEWISTOWN — The Glacier Twins and Mission Valley Mariners combined for 27 hits and 11 errors in a thrilling nine-inning loser-out baseball game at the Montana/Alberta American Legion State A Tournament on Friday afternoon with Glacier claiming an 11-9 victory to stay in the hunt for a state championship.

Rehwalt ‘Ray’ Eric Jorgenson passed away Jan. 28, 2017, in the Seattle area. Ray was born Feb. 7, 1921, in Portland, Oregon, to Melissa Rehwalt Jorgenson and Eric Jorgenson.
Medical foundation happy with fundraiser
The Mineral County Medical Foundation sold out all of its dinner tickets for the second annual “Boots and Buckles Bash” Fundraiser on April 2, but they didn’t turn away anyone who wanted in.
