Trapper education field day, virtual wolf trapper classes coming up
Kalispell trapper education field day, virtual wolf trapper certification scheduled for October

Hunter education class held at Plains Trap Club
There are thousands of adults and children in Montana who have successfully completed a Hunter Education class. The class takes at least two days and 12 hours in length. What takes place is very accurate and detailed learning about how to safely hunt, hunting ethics, specific laws on hunting in Montana, following a blood trail, what to do if lost, firing a .22 caliber rifle, and firing a shotgun. Once the class is successfully completed, the written test has been passed, and the field course has been done, the individual will receive a Montana hunter education certificate. The certificate is honored in all of North America.

Level 2 is more in-depth and level 3, an on-campus intensive 3 day short course offered in Bozeman this coming summer (2011).

Firefighter shatters record
An important training milestone for a firefighter is completion of the Firefighter One course. This course includes a combination of physical skills and technical knowledge. One of the most physically rigorous ways to obtain Firefighter One certification is to attend a training academy put on by the Montana State University Fire Service Training School in Great Falls. This approach requires the candidate to engage in difficult physical activities such as second floor rescues and pitched roof ventilation in full gear including air packs. Unlike local training this process occurs over nine successive days.

Superior students receive valuable welding certificates
The demand for welders is putting a spark in the U.S. job market due to increased construction and because within five years 25 percent of the skilled welders will be retiring. All this with a welder’s earning potential matching those of a mid-level executive of a Fortune 500 company. That’s why students in Superior’s welding class were excited and nervous for the opportunity to take national tests for welding certification.
