Last Wednesday the staff of the Clark Fork Valley Hospital Hospice Long Term Care Center held their annual Tree of Life Ceremony.

Clark Fork Valley Hospital receives Heart Association award
Clark Fork Valley Hospital received an American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines and Mission: Lifeline achievement award for demonstrating commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of stroke, ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer readmissions to the hospital.
Deputy slides down embankment
Sanders County Deputy Steven Spurr, slid his sport utility vehicle sideways over the steep edge of an embankment on Buffalo Bill Road off of Highway 200 outside of Plains on Thursday evening at about 5:05 p.m.

Members of the Noxon volleyball team held a car wash and baked good sale last Saturday in Trout Creek to help raise money for new uniforms. There was no shortage of takers for either as chocolate treats tempted patrons to the Trout Creek Local Store and plenty of dusty and muddy vehicles received some tender loving care. Plains community health fair draws big crowd
Medical professionals and nonprofit organizations filled the Plains School gymnasium Saturday for the first ever Community Health Fair. Sponsored in part by the Clark Fork Enrichment Corporation and the Clark Fork Valley Hospital, the event was attended by several local businesses.
Nine Superior wrestlers take 1st at the Valley Tournament in Thompson Falls
The Superior Little Guy wrestlers heading into the Valley Tournament Saturday with new shirts, and while brandishing the large Superman “S” across their chests may not have given them the strength to leap over tall buildings in a single bound, outrun speeding bullets or stop a locomotive, but it did give them strength to take home nine first place finishes from Thompson Falls.

Mission Valley Power replaces poles in Hot Springs
Mission Valley Power is currently engaged in a project to replace utility poles in Hot Springs as part of ongoing and standard maintenance procedures. Inspectors with the power company recently surveyed poles in the area and deemed the replacement necessary according to normal operating procedure.

Light pole crashes down near grocery store
A lamp pole fell next to Valley Grocery in Alberton at approximately 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9., prompting the Frenchtown Fire Department to close down Railroad Avenue until Northwestern Energy crews could cut the power to the pole.
First baby of the New Year born at CFVH
PLAINS - Cash Mitchell Farmer was born Jan. 4, 2013 at 3:54 p.m. and was the first baby of the new year. He was born in Sanders County at Clark Fork Valley Hospital. He weighed 6 pounds and 10 ounces and was 20 inches long. Parents are Andrea Mitchell and Edgar “Buddy” A. Farmer II of Plains. Paternal grandparents are Edgar and Patricia Farmer. Maternal grandparents are Gary and Anita Mitchell.
