Food Bank plans activities

The public is invited to an open house to tour the new Community Food bank building on Monday, Jan. 31, noon to 2 p.m., at 308 Pine in Superior, and join the staff for coffee and treats.  Visitors are asked to use the alley access from 4th Ave. and park on the South side of the building.

Mineral County legislator Rep. Gordon Hendrick (R-Superior) and Senate District 7 Sen. Greg Hinkle (R-Thompson Falls) have been given a "Champion of Small Business" award for their pro-small business voting record in the 2009 Legislative Session.

Fire breaks out at bark mill

A fire broke out at the Mountain West Bark on Thursday night. Firefighters from the Superior Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire between 7 and 8 p.m. according to Fire Chief John Woodland. Firefighters from the St. Regis Department also were out twice to assist crews with the burn. The fire was still burning at about 5 p.m. on Friday night, creating a heavy smoke in the valley.

Three Mineral County students rocked the honor roll list for the Montana State University 2017 fall semester. Students must complete a minimum of 12 degree-eligible credit hours to be on either the president’s list, which is a 4.0 GPA, or the dean’s list with a 3.5 GPA or higher.

Mountain Cats win challenge game, bound for Western C Divisional

The Clark Fork Mountain Cats just made history by making it to the Western C Divisional Tournament in Butte as the Alberton/Superior co-op. They won their challenge game against the Seeley-Swan Blackhawks on Monday in Frenchtown, 56-44. The Cats earned third place at the 13C District Tournament, edging Victor 54-53 on Saturday. Darby won the championship game over Seeley-Swan, 65-38. Since Clark Fork and Seeley-Swan had not met in the tournament, the Cats were able to challenge for a berth in the Western C Divisional. In Monday’s win over Seeley-Swan, Bryan Mask led the Cats with 15 points, Carson Callison had 13, Aaron Waddle 12, Michael Spence 11 and Danner Haskins 5.
