Relay For Life kicks off with 'Git 'er Done'
The theme for this year's Relay For Life is “Git ‘er Done,” but it has nothing to do with Larry the Cable Guy, a comedian whose slogan is “Git-R-Done.” Relay For Life's Git ‘er Done is of a much more serious nature - fighting cancer, said Kathy Miller, chairperson for the Sanders County Relay For Life again this year.
Fun and games in AWANA program
Twenty-eight students, aged kindergarten through sixth grade, caught a special bus last Thursday after school let out. Rather than heading home after school let out, the kids were bussed over to the Superior Community Church for the weekly AWANA program.

Plains Lions Club Halloween Costume Contest
You never know what unique costumes to expect for Halloween each year, worn by either adults, teenagers and youngsters. Here is a sample of the attire worn by those who participated in the Plains Lions Club Halloween Costume Contest last Wednesday, Oct. 31 at Fred Young Park in Plains. Thompson Falls ambulance trains on ice
On December 9th 2012 Thompson Falls Volunteer Ambulance Co. conducted a winter driving training course at the Thompson Falls High School in the main parking lot. Robert Cirolia the driving instructor gave an over view of the course to the members and told them what obstacles to look for. The parking lot was covered in ice so it was ideal for winter training. The ice made it just that much more of a challenge to conduct quick stops and turns.

To the gentleman who ran over the dog on Helterline Lane on Tuesday Jan. 19. It was not your fault and we have no idea what you could have done to avoid the accident. Thank you for stopping and getting out of the truck.

Hunter education class held at Plains Trap Club
There are thousands of adults and children in Montana who have successfully completed a Hunter Education class. The class takes at least two days and 12 hours in length. What takes place is very accurate and detailed learning about how to safely hunt, hunting ethics, specific laws on hunting in Montana, following a blood trail, what to do if lost, firing a .22 caliber rifle, and firing a shotgun. Once the class is successfully completed, the written test has been passed, and the field course has been done, the individual will receive a Montana hunter education certificate. The certificate is honored in all of North America.

Owner going 'all out' to clean up the private Alberton dump
The 11-acre Alberton dump continues to be in the crosshairs of the Department of Environmental Quality sites. Currently, cleanup efforts seem to be coming to a close, and hopefully the case will be permanently closed. At least that’s what property owner Joe Hanson is hoping for.
