Icy roads, snow cause wrecks on I-90
Severe winter weather hit the region last week causing several mishaps, especially on the west end of Mineral County on Interstate 90. There were reports of snow and ice from Haugan to Lookout Pass on Monday, Dec 10 in the evening hours. Around the region, Noxon, Thompson Falls and Superior were included in the winter weather advisory, as well as several other passes, including Marias Pass, which was under a blizzard warning with 80 mph winds and several inches of snow.
Epic snowstorm coats Mineral County over Christmas holiday
It was not just your imagination if you think the snow over Christmas was an epic event. Meteorologist Bob Nestor with the National Weather Service office in Missoula reported that Missoula had 13 inches of snow on the ground over a 36 hour period.

Truck accidents continue to hit I-90
The Montana Highway Patrol reported 34 incidents between Feb. 26 and Mar.5, as snow and icy conditions continue to sweep down Interstate 90 in Mineral County. Several incidents occurred Sunday, Feb. 26, and Saturday, Mar. 4 where higher elevations were hit with heavy snow fall. Especially hazardous conditions were reported on Lookout Pass.

THOMPSON FALLS- The Rex Theatre in Thompson Falls played host to a live music performance on Saturday as the facility was packed to capacity to support a venue that was recently in danger of falling into obscurity. Organizer Randy Roberts helped set up the event as a way to continue utilizing the building.
