Have you ever tried to determine what "multiple use" of our National Forests really means? Here is my stab at making a comprehensive list of uses: timber harvest (green trees and salvage), commercial mining (minerals), architectural rock mining, recreational mining, firewood gathering, berrypicking, mushroom picking, harvest of beargrass, fishing, hunting, guiding/outfitting, ranching (grazing), water for irrigation, farming, haying, water use, hydroelectric power, fire lookouts, electronic sites, snowmobiling, riding trails on vehicles such as ATVs and motorcycles, sightseeing from cars and trucks, hiking/backpacking, camping, boating, birdwatching, photography, rockclimbing, historic artifacts and archeological preservaton, wildlife viewing, other recreational activities.

HOT SPRINGS- The Hot Springs Artists Society is holding its annual two-week summer arts camp for young people to learn visual and performing arts. The camp is divided into two sections, one for visual arts such as painting and the other for performing arts such as theater.

Roads in Hot Springs cause problems
HOT SPRINGS - Nearly a dozen concerned members of the community surrounding Hot Springs met with Sanders County Commissioner Glen Magera on Wednesday to discuss their concerns regarding a few stretches of county road. Magera listened to several accounts from citizens about the hazards posed by conditions on the roads.
Market is a great addittion
Saturday was the closing day of the Thompson Falls Market and attendees enjoyed perfect fall weather, nearly 20 vendors, live music and a cinnamon roll contest that included some of the county’s best bakers (boy, those were some lucky judges!). We are fortunate to have a market that allows folks to come together from around the county to buy locally, display and sell their made/grown in Montana goods, and to just visit with neighbors.
Three local students to perform with nationwide band
SUPERIOR – Three students from Superior High School have been honored with a once in a lifetime opportunity to join a band composed of musicians from all across the nation.
'Better Together' event planned for Sunday
A local group of Mineral and Sanders County residents are holding another event this year to pull friends and neighbors together to celebrate what unites us as communities. The second annual “Better Together: A Community Celebration” will feature music, speakers, games for children, plus food and beverages.
