No child left behind test scores due soon

No Child Left Behind (NCLB) test results are expected any day now and with that comes anticipation as schools in the area wait to see whether or not they have improved from last year and what that means for their students. The school districts announced they expect to receive the results in the next week or so.

Award of the timber sale is conditional upon approval of the timber sale by the State Board of Land Commissioners at their April 16, 2018 meeting. If the successful bidder is unable to execute the contract within 30 calendar days from the date the sale is awarded, the bid deposit will be retained by the Department as liquidated damages. County jail would be costly to close

I am writing this letter as a concerned resident and (future) taxpayer of Mineral County. There is a good possibility that our local jail may close permanently unless some solutions to long-term problems can be found.

Coping with smoke from wildfires

Planning under way for June car show

The Old Schoolhouse Rock Car Show is held annually in Superior and brings hundreds of car enthusiasts into the area to participate. This is the 19th year and a planning meeting is scheduled for March 11 at 1 p.m. at Whipped Up Montana Cafe located in the Old School.

Plains does well at state track meet

Plains High School track and field continued its tradition of excellence in spite of having only five qualify for the Class-C state track meet held Thursday through Saturday at Laurel Sports Complex at Laurel High School.

No to property tax increases

One item that is to be voted on Nov. 4 is the request to increase our property taxes in support of college expenses. I recommend that we vote no to approve an increase on our property taxes for the following three reasons:
