Tips to keep your neighborhood safe and secure from county watch program
Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program, which has a thirty-year history, engages volunteer citizen action to enhance security within our community by encouraging citizens to report suspicious activity in their immediate neighborhoods. In the aftermath of September 11, 2001, the need for strengthening and securing our communities has become even more critical, and Neighborhood Watch groups have taken on greater significance. In addition to serving a crime prevention role, Neighborhood Watch can also be used as the basis for bringing neighborhood residents together to focus on disaster preparedness as well as to focus on evacuation drills and exercises.

According to Sanders County clerk and recorder Jennine Robbins the federal budget sequestration is likely to bring some serious repercussions for county residents. The Secure Rural Schools (SRS) funding was not attached to the latest Farm Bill resulting in a potential loss of $1.3 million dollars to the county road maintenance fund.

The 64th annual celebration known as Homesteader Days will be held in Hot Springs on June 7, 8, and 9. The event will feature live music, street games, a rodeo, car show, food and vendors, arts and crafts and parades. The celebration is intended to honor the original homesteaders in the Hot Springs area.

Participants hack and blast their way through Plains
Shots rang out at the trap club and the golf course on Saturday as Plains played host to the annual “Hack n’ Blast” event. Participants from as far away as Missoula, Kalispell and Libby competed in trap shooting and nine holes of golf during the unique event.
