Busy summer ahead for area Forest Service crews

Forest Service agencies are gearing up for a busy summer with a number of projects in the works. Nate Kegel, and Carole Johnson with the Superior Ranger District met on separate occasions, with County Commissioners regarding the status of several projects in the Superior Ranger District. There was also a community meeting with the Ninemile Ranger District regarding updates on the Soldier Butler fuels reduction project, as well as other projects in the area.

POLSON -- Lindy Dupuis is proud to announce the arrival of her little sisters Elise Jeanette and Ella Lou Dupuis who were born on June 20, 2012 at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. Elise weighed 5 pounds, 5 ounces and Ella weighed 5 pounds, 11 ounces. Parents are Daylen and Anna Dupuis of Polson. Paternal grandparents are Kendall and Linda Dupuis of Polson. Maternal grandparents are Nardy and Gloria Stascavage of Plains. Great-grandparents are Oliver and Lois Dupuis of Polson and Jim and Lou Duford of Ronan.

All season St. Regis track star Ian Farris has become a fixture in the top-10 standing of various track events and his performance at the AA and C state track meet was no different Friday and Saturday at Laurel High School.

Housing shortage continues to plague Mineral County

There was an open house in Superior at Maple Street Cottages last week. The two-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath rental units are available for seniors who are 62 years of age and older, and are on a fixed income. The hallway that leads from the front sitting room and kitchen are wide enough for wheelchairs and the shower is equipped for handicapped individuals. “We call these ‘aging in place’ units,” said Jim Morton with the Human Resource Council and he oversees programs in Mineral, Missoula and Ravalli counties.

All-stars raise $8,417 for Regionals trip

The Clark Fork Valley Minors All-stars are on their way to Meridian, Idaho today for the regional tournament. The tournament starts tomorrow with pool play, and, if the All-stars win they’ll move on to the Cal Ripkin World Series in Maryland next month.

This pattern often resulted in major pollution and bankruptcy filings, while the officers moved on to the next mine leaving the costs and impacts on taxpayers.

Clark Fork gets volleyball, football wins

The Clark Fork Lady Mountain Cats plucked the Valley Christian Eagles during volleyball play in Missoula On Oct. 4, 26-24; 25-15; 26-24. In 24 team kills, Emmah Baughman led the way with 8. Madison Mask once again led in team assists with 16 out of 19 and Margaret Parkin had 13 out of 47 team digs. Out of 7 team aces, Sorren Reese had 3, and she had one of the teams two blocks, the other block was Cassie Green.
